Overview

INSTITUTIONAL

Prodigy was awarded the contract to Construction Manage Upper Canada College’s prep school renovation project at the Parkin Building. Our scope was to renovate and revitalize approximately 12,000 sq.ft. of institutional classroom space at Upper Canada College’s Deer Park Campus in Toronto, ON.

Over the course of the summer, and early fall we coordinated the complex renovation of one of the oldest school buildings on campus. For this project we worked alongside CS&P Architects and various consultants to provide progressive budgets until all drawings were finalized and pricing fell within the client’s desired budget. When drawings and specifications fell outside of the desired budget, we would value engineer certain materials and equipment to bring costs down while still maintaining the integrity and overall quality of the project spaces.

Given the age of the building we were working in, we encountered several issues with regards to +80 year old electrical, mechanical and material finishes discovered during the demolition phase. Fortunately, Prodigy ran an effective Pre-Construction period which enabled us to obtain buy in from the client in terms of contingencies to account for what the eighty year old structure was about to throw our way!

Once the project was complete, Prodigy hosted a SWOT meeting with the client and project team to discuss the lessons we learned and ways to improve communication and processes for upcoming projects our firm was already engaged on.
