Longtime client Tap & Barrel approached Prodigy, with a Construction Management opportunity in the lower mainland. Prodigy was the successful proponent and was awarded the accelerated prestigious Tap & Barrel Bridges Cafe interior construction project.
The scope of work involved the renovation of approximately 20,000 sq.ft. of a heritage site building, located on Granville Island and dining space located over two floors. There was also a 200-table patio scope that required the complete reconstruction of an overwater structure. The restaurant was situated in an area of Granville Island, where construction restrictions were in full effect. There were noise by-laws and street permitting requirements, along with logistics challenges(water delivery) and blackout dates early-on that our construction team was required to navigate, given the site was a 24/7 implementation.
The restaurant spaces were demolished and under strictly enforced municipal and wildlife limitations. We faced many municipal challenges, and supply chain issues, however, were successful in mitigating risk by proper planning ahead of time.
Our project team were in constant communication with our client and the consulting team and built a strong reputation with the municipal regulatory authorities. This was pivotal in terms of inspections and municipal sign-offs.
Despite executing this project during a time of severe labour shortages, supply chain risk, and municipal oversight, our firm was able to deliver on time and on budget for a client we have built a great reputation with over the last several years.
We were proud to renovate the largest restaurant in Western Canada, with over 800 seats!
