In January of 2021, Prodigy was excited to be awarded the highly anticipated Royal Bank of Canada Plaza project in downtown Toronto. The project was a Construction Management, Target Valued Design GMP delivery model.
Our firm led an effective Pre-Construction phase, which was roughly three (3) months in duration. During this period, we were successful through various value engineering methods to reduce the overall project budget by approximately $800,000. Our project team found cost-effective MEP solutions and was excited to pass these savings onto our client.
The RBC Plaza renovation project was a 30,000 sq.ft., after hours and phased project that took place over June 2021 to March 2022. Through this time period the project team faced many constraints; COVID-19 lockdowns, variants of concern (4th – 6th pandemic waves), labour shortages, supply chain disruption and mandatory vaccination mandates (client, Prodigy). Formidable challenges, which our Project Team efficiently overcame through a series of on-site policies and procedures, to creative phasing of work based on labour shortages(Day and Night work micro-schedules).
In the end, our firm was successful in delivering one of the banks most established and historically significant branches, complete with a new art gallery, CSR offices and meeting rooms and the remarkable three-story digital ribbon at the centre of the branch!
