In January 2017, Prodigy was approached by Brinker International out of Dallas, Texas to construct their second Calgary International Airport location. The new location was to be located within the new United States Departures section, which was under simultaneously construction.

This construction project had a high – security element to it, in that the construction sites; 5,000 sq.ft. restaurant and 1,500sqft remote cold room were located in a post – security environment. This provided various site access, worker coordination and material delivery challenges as a result. Fortunately, Prodigy has constructed over 50 retail, banking and hospitality locations pre and post security at ALL major Canadian airports over the last ten years and our experience in this environment specifically, was substantial.

The larger challenge was that we were actively working within a larger construction site as well. The P3 construction firm were the prime contractors and both of our Chili’s restaurant sites, along with several other client construction sites were found within their work zone. Our firm was not dissuaded by this requirement, in fact, Prodigy has a tremendous amount of experience working on many shared construction sites and understand what is required to be successful.

Our project scope required us to fitout the remote storage room and compete the interior electrical, mechanical and architectural finishes at both the remote storage room and the restaurant location. We were also awarded the millwork contract and produced the restaurant millwork package. We were also awarded the client data & communications contract and worked closely with Calgary airports authority and the representatives from the P3 constructor to complete this scope for our client. Overall, our project was a success and our client was satisfied with the level of quality and professionalism our firm delivered.
